Northern youth partner police to fight crime during elections

A group of youths from the northern parts of the country has partnered with the police to ensure violence-free general elections.

The arrangement between the police and the Arewa Youth Forum (AYF) was reached during a courtesy call on the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Suleiman Abba at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

The Forum led by its National President, Gambo Gujungu, expressed the determination of its members to work towards violence-free general elections.

Abba charged Nigerian youths to desist from assisting politicians to fan violence.

He said the youths were future leaders and hence they should distance themselves from all acts capable of impacting negatively on their personality and that of the country.

The Inspector-General of Police equally charged the executive of the group to sensitize other youths in the country on the need to fully participate in community policing activities in their areas.

He gave the Nigerian youths assurance of his support for every peace initiative on National development they may embark on

Abba reiterated that the strategies put in place by the police to ensure violence-free general elections in February 2015 were being implemented.

Meanwhile, the group decorated Abba with the exemplary leadership award.
