Ex Governor Of Niger State Pelted With Stones By Angry Crowd During Inauguration


In what can be best described as an embarrassing situation, the former Niger State Governor, Dr. Babangida Aliyu was was booed and stoned by an angry crowd during Friday’s inauguration of the incoming governor, Alhaji Abubakar Bello.

Immediately his convoy arrived the venue of the inauguration shouts of “Barawo,” “Thief,” “Ole” “Change has come,” “Your time is past, go,” rented the air at the Bako Kontagora Memorial Stadium, as the crowd registered their displeasure with his appearance.

The organisers of the ceremony had to stop the ex-governor from making a speech as earlier planned on the programme.

According to Nations, Aliyu was pelted with slippers and satchet water prompting his security orderlies to form a human shield around him.

At a point, the security officials had to fire tear gas canisters in the air to disperse the crowd that was pelting his convoy with stones.
