13 Celebrities You Forgot Were On The Disney Channel

When you think of Beyonce, do you think Disney? You should.
When you see them today you probably can’t imagine them starring on the Disney Channel, but many of your most beloved celebrities got their start on the Mouse House’s eponymous channel. Whether it a lead role, guest spot or playing Girl In Coffee Shop, these roles helped develop the celebrity that these stars enjoy today.
Ahead, 13 stars you probably didn’t know were on the Disney Channel.
  1. Beyonce, “Famous Jett Jackson”

Many don’t remember Queen Bey’s guest spot as a potential love interest on the Famous Jett Jackson. But back when Destiny’s Child was still in the early stages of fame, they did more than one Disney channel appearance. They also made a guest appearance as themselves on Smart Guy. (And, fun fact, none other than Britney Spears had a guest spot on the same series.)
  2. Justin Timberlake, “Model Behavior”

In this nostalgic favorite, JT plays the boyfriend of a famous model and ends up dating her doppelganger after the two decide to swap places.
  3. Brittany Murphy, “Sister, Sister”

The late actress developed her comedy chops on more than one Disney Channel show, but best remembered is her recurring role as Tia and Tamera’s best friend, Sarah. She teaches them how to smoke and secretly reunites with her boyfriend during their slumber party. Scandal!
  4. Emmy Rossum, “Genius”

This was just the beginning of Emily Rossum’s success. Even back in 1999 she was a vision, playing the smartypants daughter of a hockey coach who helps foil a cheating scandal and help her dad’s team win the game. No “Phantom” necessary.
  5. Kristen Stewart, “The Thirteenth Year”

Few of us even remember Kristin Stewart in this movie, and for good reason: she’s literally credited as “Fountain Girl” and she’s on screen for less than 10 seconds. But there’s no missing that face. When you see it now, you know it’s K-Stew.
  6. Mischa Barton, “A Ring of Endless Light”

Oh, we yearn for the days when Mischa could talk to dolphins and Ryan Merriman was everywhere. She plays Vicki, a girl who goes to Australia for the summer to visit her sick grandfather and discovers she can communicate telepathically with dolphins. Obviously.
  7. Kat Dennings, “The Scream Team”

We remember “Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist,” of course, and maybe even “Raise Your Voice,” but few remember Kat Dennings in this Disney Channel Original. She plays Clare, who moves into her deceased grandfather’s house with her family…only to find out that it’s haunted by several ghosts. Uh, welcome home?
  8. Jared Padalecki, “A Ring of Endless Light”

Before Padalecki was building cars for Rory on “Gilmore Girls” and fighting evil on “Supernatural,” he was charming Mischa Barton (and her dolphin pals) as rich boy Zachary Gray.
  9. Taran Killam, “Stuck in the Suburbs”

Nowadays we know Taran Killam as one of the funniest members of “Saturday Night Live.” But in 2004, he was known as the hot rock star with frosted tips, Jordan Cahill. And do you remember the 2000 series “The Jersey”? Yeah, he had a guest spot on that one too.
  10. Bryan Cranston, “Twas the Night”

    500full Disney
Ladies and gents, Saint Walter White, back in his Disney Channel days.
  11. Lucy Hale, “Wizards of Waverly Place”

Back before she was running from “A,” Lucy Hale starred as Justin’s love interest, Miranda. She was only on two episodes, but she owned her role as the feisty new Goth girl.
  12. Gabrielle Union, “Smart Guy”

Gabrielle Union was in everything back then. “Smart Guy” was just one of the Disney Channel shows she appeared in. She also played Tamara’s shoplifting friend in “Sister Sister” and an extra on “The Jersey.”
  13. Naya Rivera, “Even Stevens”

Much like her character Santana on “Glee,” Naya Rivera proved she doesn’t take crap from anyone in her brief appearance on “Even Stevens.” Her character, Charlene, packs quite the punch stomp.
