They’re making a comeback — the Backstreet Boys new documentary tells the story of the boys like we’ve never seen before. The film, called Backstreet Boys: Show ‘Em What You’re Made Of, reveals the emotional capacity of the band from boyhood to manhood as they record their reunion album in London.

The trailer begins by highlighting the band’s epic takeover in the music world. “From 1999 to about 2002, we’re the biggest band in the world. Nobody thought it was going to be as big as it was,” the guys say.
“Then..it just stopped.”
Nick Carter reveals that almost 20 years later he contacted the band to create a reunion album. The five members jet set to London without their girlfriends and families, strictly to record an album, while also documenting their incredible journey. All five of the men are shown jamming in the studio together — apparently during their time away they learned how to play different instruments!
The film, directed by Stephen Kijak, also heavily touches on the struggles the boys faced including the drama with former manager Lou Pearlman, who was charged with bank fraud.
We think the documentary looks very exciting and promising! Not only is it a powerful comeback for our beloved boy band, but it also speaks to great lengths on fame and growing up in the spotlight.
“20 years is a long time, for anybody. Let alone a buncha dorks jumping around on a stage, singing and dancing,” says A.J. McLean.
Backstreet Boys: Show ‘Em What You’re Made Of hits theaters and iTunes on January, 30, 2015.
