OMG!!!! Justin Bieber might go deaf

Ever since Justin revealed he may need surgery due to a busted eardrum, we’ve been worried sick! A medical expert, however, gave HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVE insight on what type of procedure the Biebs may need and what the long term affects may be.

Justin Bieber, 20, busted his eardrum and doctors say he may need surgery. Could the singer’s eardrum be damaged forever? Will this injury affect his career? Are there risks for this type of surgery? We’ve got all the answers!

Justin Bieber Eardrum Injury — Reaction From Doctor After Cliff Diving Accident

“More than likely, Justin ruptured the tympanic membrane, or eardrum, on impact or while descending into the water. The surgery for that condition, if it is what he has, is a tympanoplasty, where a piece of tissue is used to simply seal the hole in the tympanic membrane,” Dr. Barry M. Rose M.D., the Anesthesiologist at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco.
While that sort of procedure sounds pretty simple, no surgery should ever be taken lightly.
“As surgeries go, it is ‘superficial’ in nature, but as we have seen recently [with the death of Joan Rivers], no procedure can be taken lightly. Having said that, this is outpatient surgery that 99.9+% of the time goes easily and smoothly, and has no long term effects except sealing the hole in the eardrum,” Dr. Barry M. Rose M.D. adds.
Phew! We’re certainly happy to hear that Justin’s eardrum can likely be saved.
The 20-year-old singer first revealed the devastating news in a series of tweets on Sept. 24.
