Trailer Cruches 10 Pupils To Death In Abuja

Tragedy reportedly struck at Army Day School in Jikoko, Mpape, a suburb of Abuja, on Monday when a heavy duty vehicle crashed into a school compound and killed 10 pupils on the spot.
Leadership reports that the pupils were busy receiving lectures at about 9.am when the incident occurred.
It was gathered that one of the victims mother fainted when she received the news that her two children were among the deceased, while her six year old daughter who was severely injured was rushed to the emergency unit of Maitama General Hospital for medical attention.
The girl, who was unconscious when she was rushed to the hospital, was said to have lost her fingers, with her two knees broken by the heavy duty vehicle during the accident.
An eye witness, identified as Tosin Ayomide, who spoke to journalist disclosed that the presence of the heavy duty vehicle was baffling given the act that the school is an open field.
According to him, following the impact of the accident, the students both the ones alive and dead, had to be dug from the ground where they were rammed into.
There were reportedly dust and sand all over the casualty when she was brought to the hospital for treatment.
It was also gathered that the driver of the heavy duty vehicle immediately fled the scene of the accident.
